Like a tidal wave, finals week is upon us! Which means two things: (1) I've just gotten back to Gainesville recently from Thanksgiving break. Thanksgiving is such a tease... it gives you a false sense of finality. It gives you turkey and cold weather and home, and then casts you right back out to the wolves (AKA professors). and (2) Christmas is only 24 days away. I am significantly less enthusiastic about Christmas than I am about Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving (although brutal considering its placement in the semester) is a selfless holiday. It's about family and love, and our gratefulness for the things we have. Christmas has become this horrible monster. Spending hours in department store lines, worrying about whether or not your cousin will like her present, and having to deal with family members you could do without is hardly a vacation.
I saw Pride and Prejudice last night, and I'm sure every book-snob in the world hates it, but I don't care. I've read the book and am intitled to my opinion. I liked it. I liked Vanity Fair a LOT better, but what can you do? Oh, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is coming out next week! We used to watch the BBC movies when I was little. The past few years they've been making beautiful movies out of great literature and I love it.
So no real parties since I've come back to Gainesville. There was a big sister/little sister party for my sorority the other night, but that hardly counts. My little sister hates me. Why? I couldn't tell you...
The problem with my sorority:
1. It's not panhellenic
2. It might as well be panhellenic
3. I don't really fit in
4. I got elected to Public Relations Chair
5. ::muffled cough:: My sorority rocks!
